NONPROFIT FINANCIALS

Financial Transparency

FIRST Wisconsin is committed to transparency and accountability. The organization provides access to its most recent IRS Form 990 filings and audited financial statements, offering a clear view of how resources are managed in support of its mission to expand access to life-changing STEM programs across the state.

Understanding the Fiscal Reporting Period

When FIRST Wisconsin was established in 2021, the organization initially set its tax year to follow the calendar year (January–December) to streamline the startup process. As a result, both the 2021 and 2022 financial filings reflect full calendar-year reporting.

In 2023, a one-time adjustment was made to better align the organization’s fiscal year with its programmatic and operational calendar. This included a short-year return for part of 2023 and a transition to a new fiscal year cycle. As of mid-2023, FIRST Wisconsin’s fiscal year now runs from July 1 through June 30, with the first full fiscal year under this new structure covering July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.

This update ensures that financial reporting is more closely aligned with the timing of FIRST Wisconsin’s programs, providing clearer insights for stakeholders and supporters.
