About the event
Mentors are the backbone of every successful FIRST® team, and supporting them is critical to long-term program success. Recognizing that recruiting and retaining mentors is a key barrier to growth, FIRST HQ launched the Mentor Development Initiative (MDI)—a multi-year effort to create new systems, resources, training, and recognition for current and prospective mentors.
The FIRST Mentor Development Initiative: Midwest Workshop brings this global effort home. This one-day event, hosted by FIRST Wisconsin, invites Midwest FIRST mentors—whether you’re just starting out or a seasoned veteran—to:
Learn about the FIRST Mentor Development Initiative and its focus on recruiting, training, and retaining quality mentors.
Provide feedback on Midwest-specific needs in Mentor Connectivity, Recognition, and Training & Development.
Collaborate in a statewide brainstorm to identify challenges and opportunities unique to Midwest teams.
Engage in breakout workshops to explore training needs by area of expertise.
