What’s Changing, Why It Matters, and How to Be Ready
As we finalize preparations for the FIRST Wisconsin State Championship presented by GE HealthCare, we want to share an important update to the pit map.
What’s Changing
During final verification of the venue, we identified an error in the previously communicated North–South dimensions of the field house that impacted the pit layout.
We worked closely with the venue to adjust the layout so we can safely accommodate all Championship-qualifying teams while maintaining standard 10’ x 10’ pit spaces.
The updated layout—including split pit placement—is reflected in the revised pit map.

Why It Matters
This update ensures we can:
Keep all teams within the same part of the venue
Maintain standard 10’ x 10’ team pit spaces
Provide safe and accessible aisle ways
Support a smooth and functional event experience for everyone
We appreciate your flexibility as we make this adjustment.
What This Means for Your Team
There is no change to team pit sizes. All pits will remain 10’ x 10’ with appropriately sized aisle ways.
Pit assignments were determined using a randomized process.
Things to keep in mind:
Your pit location may have shifted- review the updated pit map before arrival
Your pit space will remain 10’ x 10’
Volunteers will be available to support load-in and help direct traffic flow
If you have accessibility or space needs, please reach out in advance so we can support you
How to Prepare for Load-In on Friday
Take a few minutes to review the updated pit map with your team
Share the update with students, mentors, and drive team members
Plan for a smooth load-in by following volunteer directions when you arrive
Where Additional Volunteer Support is Needed
With the adjusted layout, we could use a few additional hands in the following volunteer areas. If anyone on your team or someone you know could help in any of the following roles, please encourage them to apply at the links!
Volunteering at a FIRST event is a great way to give back to the community and is a very fun and rewarding experience. Thanks in advance for your agility and Gracious Professionalism!
Test Area Attendant (AKA Practice Field Attendant), could use 1-2 volunteers FRI, SAT, and SUN: EXPRESS LINK TEST AREA
Manages test area, ensures equitable access by all teams, ensures proper use of test elements.
Safety Glasses Attendant, could use 1-2 volunteers SUN: EXPRESS LINK SAFETY GLASSES
Manages safety glasses station, ensures all participants wearing safety glasses in pits, helps reset borrowed safety glasses.
Queuer, could use 1-2 more volunteers FRI, SAT, and SUN; prefer full event commitment for consistency: EXPRESS LINK QUEUER
Works with Lead Queuer and Field Supervisor to queue robots for matches throughout the event.
I appreciate your flexibility as we work through this update, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the upcoming FIRST Wisconsin State Championship presented by GE HealthCare!
